Cooperstown - the Birthplace of Baseball

Located on the outskirts of Cooperstown, New York, Cooperstown All Star Village is a baseball resort known for its summer tournaments for kids age 12 and up. Each season, up to 900 teams enjoy the state-of-the-art facilities at Cooperstown All Star Village, which include junior-size baseball fields, each equipped with Major League Baseball-style amenities and on-site accommodations for players and their families.

Cooperstown became known as the birthplace of baseball in 1907, 14 years after the game’s inventor, General Abner Doubleday passed away. In 1935, baseball bigwigs, benefactors, and many proud residents of Cooperstown bought a baseball field for $25,000 and made a modern ballpark out of it, naming it Doubleday Field.

A public playground was also added to the ballpark. To preserve the treasures of baseball, a three-story museum was erected, which is now known as the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. The Baseball Hall of Fame enshrined and immortalized the heroes of the game.

Through the years, many baseball-focused establishments have emerged in Cooperstown. These attractions offer events and activities that draw the game of baseball closer to the hearts of baseball fans.
